It's been quite the month, and so there are a few things to catchup on with this blog. Let's dive into life in general.
WORK
So work, well, got very hectic. Crazy? Depressing? Refreshing?
In summary, I was made redundant from my job - down to the lack of clients the company was drawing in that required my skill set (python, cloud, AWS, event-driven, data science). This was a shock given the projects I had worked on and the hope I would work towards further accreditation to be an AWS machine learning expert in the company. Plus, I learnt of my redundancy 5 days before my AWS Solutions Architect Associate exam, and before Warhammer Fest.
Life was thrown into a lot of turmoil, and what was intended to be a holiday weekend suddenly became a mess of job applications, cover letter writing, and cramming for the exam (given my time was now sucked up with applying for jobs, and just generally trying to hold it together).
However, things worked out in the end.
By some miracle I passed the exam - it's not an easy exam by any stretch - and I had a number of job leads, some offers, and one that came out on top thanks to the salary and benefits, plus being still 100% remote. It also means I am still working using python, AWS, and event-driven architectures.
HOBBY
With the new job locked in I was able to take some time off and do a bit of hobby. That meant finally painting the Drukhari and Adeptus Arbites from Soulshackle.
Going for a yellow scheme - a sort of wasp-like look - worked rather well, and I am looking forward to finally playing some Kill Team.
Speaking of skirmish games, the Necromunda campaign rumbles on, with more games being logged, and a big multiplayer game "Meeeeaat!" which saw multiple gangs face a horde of cannibals. Lots of fun as we approach the half way mark of the campaign.
WRITING
Currently writing is in a quiet spot, as I contribute to projects in smaller ways. But given the last month, that isn't a big issue. I'm excited to see Vow of Absolution getting closer to release as Cubicle 7 puts out more teasers for that book.
Also, finally, there are teasers going out for the Changeling the Lost book I worked on, The Hedge. This will likely be the last Changeling the Lost book that comes out given how Chronicles of Darkness gets less attention, and all the 2nd edition core books are done. EVENTS
Due to the job madness, I didn't go to Warhammer Fest, but I don't think I missed out on much in hindsight. But I will be at UKGE, getting interviews and insight from game creators, taking video and vlogs, and catching up with friends and co-writers on books.
