It's been a busy month. Not only do I have yet another freelance writing project to finish, plus more driving lessons as I prepare to resit my driving test (failed the first time), but I now have my own car! Woop Woop! It's a white Skoda Karoq and is really fun to drive - though my frame of reference is, of course, limited. So soon (touch wood, bless the gods, leave out gifts for the fae), I will be able to drive to events and take lots of minis and terrain for immersive RPG games for Soulbound and Wrath and Glory. The house is also going through more renovations as the kitchen is practically finished, and the living room will get the last steps of a makeover, meaning all the work will be done - for the time being.
Work-wise, things are somewhat all go, as the project I am on wraps up work, and the last half a year or so of learning AWS is leveraged to get the final version of a data ETL (extraction, translation, loading) workflow. It's been useful for me, as I am one of the few python experts in the company, and this has demonstrated the need for that expertise. Furthermore, data manipulation is something I really enjoy - I blame being a computational scientist, I like data! So I am looking forward to more projects I can support in this manner and make use of AWS Glue, Athena, and data lakes.
Related, and again a way to demonstrate the power of using Python and my own teaching skills, I have been preparing a series of tutorials to teach colleagues the fundamentals of machine learning - something in which I have a practical background in. So this will cover the basics of neural networks, Gaussian Processes, Support Vector Machines, and more. This, of course, is all preparation so we can start using AWS on data lakes containing valuable data.
Meanwhile, all this work and more means other things have slowed down. Painting minis has been slow and mainly been terrain. And writing for other projects has taken a backseat. But I hope once the driving lessons and test is done, I might have the head space once more and the time to commit to more fun projects.

It's Halloween, which means it's the perfect time to play the scenario I designed, Hell Rides to Hallt, which is discounted right now.
