New Start

It's again another month or so since the last blog post, and it has been a busy month. The new job is going well, as I am once more up to my eyeballs in Python code, Cloudformation, and AWS. It's once more fully remote, but I think I am finding my groove in the new job, the team, and I can't lie that the pay and the benefits are much better.

Events

UKGE was great to return to, as I had the opportunity to meet up with a number of people, be they fellow writers, developers on projects I have worked on, fellow podcasters, and creators of games who I have interviewed in the past. Rather than give a long winded run down here, you can watch the video.

UKGE is definitely a great event, and I was lucky to hop onto the OnTableTop live stream to chat about my own work, and hopefully next year I will be there for more than just a day.

Freelance Work

Given my new job, I have been somewhat happy with the slow down on the freelance front, but that doesn't mean it has stopped, as I am putting in some finishing touches on one book, being asked to pitch for other games, and awaiting for the next project from one of my regular clients. But, we are getting very close to Changeling the Lost: The Hedge being released as it seems all the art is approved for the book. It's one game I am keen to run again and use my Venice setting material for. But there is such a long list of games I want to play, and many are those I am actively writing for.

Podcasting

With events, new jobs, and just being busy with freelance work, the podcast has been in a bit of a lull, but we did put out a new episode of Dark Iron, our Iron Kingdoms podcast, which looked at the city of Corvis, and I was joined by Iron Kingdoms co-writer, Randy Newnham.

Hobby

With all this work my hobby has been a good escape from the chaos of starting a new job, and the attic being renovated and my office moving downstairs.

The new digs

Played some Necromunda using the Ash Wastes rules to get to grips with vehicles (not that complex) and painted up another Achillies Ridgerunner to join the collection. The campaign continues as most players are now ready for the halfway phase to buy new gangers, vehicles, and to begin the next half.

Played some Warcry, having painted up the terrain from Heart of Ghur, plus painted up the rather fun vampires, the Askurgan Trueblades.

Also, what with the 10th edition of Warhammer 40k released, I finished painting 1000 pts of Necrons and also I have got the models needed for the new Necron combat patrol, and likewise I painted up the marines from Imperium magazine to make a 1000pt army of Bloood Ravens.

To cap it all off, I have started painting the Sisters of Battle from Imperium magazine, and I have bought the bits to make the combat patrol for this army, while also having enough - with the Adeptus Arbites and an Inquisitor - to make a 1000 pt army. Oh... and I also got for cheap from a friend enough of the new Tyranids for both a combat patrol of them and a 1000 pt army. Guess I am playing from 40k very soon!
