Where Does The Time Go?
It's now been 3 months of working in my new position, and I have to say I love it, plus I love the benefits. It has been a relief knowing I have healthcare, plus extra things that improve my work life balance. Plus I feel I am becoming a better Python and AWS software engineer with each week.
But it is also a funny time of the year as it is today 5 years since I bought my house with my partner, and 7 years since I first met my nephew when he was only a few weeks old. It's also now 1 year since the kitchen in the house was renovated, and it has been great living in a house that is almost fully redecorated. Just one more room to go and new carpet to be installed for the stairs.
Perhaps the biggest thing I did this last month was drive to London and back. It's been a year since I bought my car, and coming up on a year since I passed my driving test, so going on a long car journey was quite the thing, and really, it wasn't bad. Except I scratched the car paint in the car park in London. Shit!
Hobby
There has been a long lull over the summer with wargaming, but we are now back into the Necromunda campaign, and my Enforcer gang is now the plucky underdog, as the other gangs race ahead with creds while mine lags behind as, by the rules, I can't claim territory during the course of the Dominion campaign. It sucks!, But the gang is still quite the threat.
Using the vehicle rules for Ash Wastes battles is also proving to be a lot of fun as some serious heavy weapons are being deployed to blast gangers apart.
Of course the other gorilla in the plastic backlog is Kingdom Death Monster Gambler's Chest expansion. I am awaiting the card sleeves before I start playing it, but if I can clear up my table to projects (which includes my Tyranid army) I will crack on with the miniatures from this expansion.
Freelance
Writing has been going well recently, with a few projects, plus some new work that will diversify my RPG work away from writing. I can't say much more until projects are announced and released.
On the CYBR front I have two more articles out in the new issue of the magazine. One looks at the concept of "space advertising", and the other looks at directed energy technologies.
Also, over the last few days I have recorded two new interviews for Darker Days Radio. The first is with Parable Games, and looking at their game SHiver, and their upcoming Kickstarter for their new solo horror RPG, Don't Play This Game. The other episode coming up is the interview with Owlcat Games about their upcoming CRPG, Rogue Trader, which being a 40k computer RPG, is of course a topic close to my heart.
THat's all for now until more projects are released or announced.
