It's been quite the month, some of it not quite as planned, and others going better than expected.
Things didn't start out quite as I had hoped. I had to miss UKGE due to a family emergency, which always leads to momentary FOMO. The issue was that I missed the chance to catch up with people I have worked with and make new connections—something though I hope to remedy by attending Dragonmeet in December.
To add to the drama of the month, my car got reversed into. I was at a dead stop, and the driver ahead just kept reversing after having come to a halt after reversing away from a closed gate. Crazy. So the car is going in for repairs, which I hope won't take too long, but I will have a courtesy car.
Anyway, onto the updates.
Freelance Work
Video editing and layout work with Cubicle 7 have rumbled along. I hope to be able to chat more about my writing soon. However, the new Threat Assessment book for Wrath and Glory was released recently, within which I worked on the Chaos Undivided entries.
However, what I can chat about is Eldritch Automata. Eldritch Automata from Gehenna Gaming is a Year Zero-powered TTRPG where players are pilots of mechas, similar to those in Evangelion and Pacific Rim, battling to save the world from Seraphs and Horrors - towering monsters created by the eldritch entity known as the Architect.
Within this game, I did some work detailing the game world, primarily the British Isles. However, that is not all, as I will also be designing the wargame for the setting. It's early days as the crowdfunding campaign is ongoing, but it has been funded, and more stretch goals have been passed.
Hobby
This month has seen me finally starting a new in-person RPG campaign, as I run a campaign of Age of Sigmar: Soulbound. It's already proving to be quite fun with just a single session played thus far, with a party of Aelves and a singular Dwarf. I'll try to write up a summary at some point, but for now, I just know we are playing through the Shadows in the Mists campaign.
I've also been painting more Warmachine models and completed my Khador and Cygnar armies, and I am awaiting more minis for the former to increase it to 100 worth. Oh, and from Dark Fantastic Mills, I got some great terrain that I will use for Warmachine because, unlike my Warcry terrain, it is not encrusted with skulls.
New episodes of Darker Days Radio are out too!
Work
This month has continued the crunch as the product closes in on customer delivery. But while that has been the focus, along with crushing many bugs, I have also started learning more about LLMs as I aim to be the group's in-house machine-learning expert. So far, this has been more of a case of getting reacquainted with methods and Python libraries, but hopefully, I will soon get to more of the meaty content.
