Where Does the Time Go?

It's four months now since I started my current job, and even my boss is surprised it has only been 4 months. We both feel like it seems much longer as I have worked on several different projects across the group, and already, my experience is feeding into how we train and onboard others who start in the company and our department. There is so much new jargon I need to understand and just how finance works - it's a lot! The other new front at work is me finally learning Typescript and React to build web apps. It's always a nice new challenge getting used to a new syntax and framework, when I am more used to Python and Flask.

It's weird to reflect on the last year (or even the last two years), as it's been a year since I bought my first car, and almost a year since I passed my driving test, and only just 6 months ago I was given notice on my last job. It's wild that I am now in a better job, with better benefits, and just generally feeling much more relaxed.

Hobby

The Necromunda campaign keeps rumbling on, suffering delays, but it's exciting that in the next week or so there are new releases that will mean new vehicles and scenarios, in particular for my Enforcers and the Van Saar. But the main highlights recently have been games of Warcry, which remind me how good this game is, how fast it is to play, and how good the terrain and models are, oozing atmosphere and themes that you don't see in Age of Sigmar as much.

I've also started looking at the first of the published scenarios for Imperium Maledictum which is getting me excited for running RPGs again. It seems that the hiatus I have had on running games while I have enjoyed lots of wargaming is coming to an end, and I have been reinvigorated by the great stuff coming out.

Meanwhile, I've been a bit miffed with the state of Warhammer 40,000 10th edition. Within the space of 2 months GW has changed some core rules of the game, and even books that were due to be published were invalidated. It's a bit of a whiplash, and it means before I have even dived into playing the game, the game has changed. It's taken the wind out of my sails, and was a topic of discussion between myself and Brendan on the latest Realm of Fire episode.

This has made me finally pull the trigger and order the army boxes for Warmachine for Cygnar and Khador, so stay tuned for painted armies for these two factions.

Freelance Work

Another month going by almost always means I have turned in more work, this time another batch of words for Iron Kingdoms, which I will chat about more once the Kickstarter goes live. Likewise, it turns out I have more words to write for a project due to a bit of confusion, so that means some concepts and setting material I have written for this new game can be expanded upon and will likely be the focus for the next week.

That's all for now, again just capturing what I have been doing in a professional capacity, and hopefully I might have topics for blog posts going forward.
